Bidrage med feedbackThis was an interesting experience. Food was plentiful and good although my lobster was a tad overcooked. Definitely a different experience.
I had read that Lobster suppers were the thing to do on PEI. This one was a well oiled machine. It even had gluten free brownies. The staff was kind and helpful. We did have to wait a bit and it is not cheap, but it is lobster and it helps a local place. Tour buses do come here but don't be turned off. They will have available tables for small groups. We even got a table with a great view. Barry even gave us a personal tour of the lobster tanks.
Wasn’t great the food was a big let down you can tell it was made in the afternoon wouldn’t go back sorry to say
Saw restaurant reviews posted a lot online stating that it is PEI #1 restaurant, after waiting in line for 30 minutes, we were overwhelmed with disappointment. I agree with another review that thus Neal reminded me of cafeteria food.
Visiting the Maritimes I was looking forward to a lobster dinner. The New Glasgow Lobster Suppers is well covered in all the travel Youtube videos. There’s a similar restaurant in Bedeck on Cape Breton but the reviews went as good, so we chose PEI. It was rainy and the lines light. Perfect. Service was all so friendly and quaint. My wife had the surf and turf and I the lobster. $110.00 or so. Alcohol extra, paid at table. Dinner paid ahead. The all you can eat muscles were good. While typical, they were fresh and I got stuffed. The all you can eat salads were okay but the potato salad and coleslaw severely lacked flavour and I felt there wasn’t any pride by the owner/food preparation staff. The mixed green salad was great. The buns were warm, fresh, and I just used the warm butter to dip pieces. This restaurant slices the lobster in half lengthwise. So, what does half a lobster look like? Well, the other half of course! It was less appealing to my wife that way with the greenish liver in view and the female lobster eggs there too. All are edible. The pre-cracked lobster makes it easier for the novice to get the juicy white meat. Mine was fresh had perfectly adequate. My wife had island-raised beef. Her steak was good. Cooked as requested. But it certainly isn’t what they are known for. Our server was a local girl and very nice. Unfortunately as with all restaurants with bottomless soda drinks, etc., you have to flag someone down for refills. The desert menu was pretty robust and got big thumbs up from the two of us. I had the lemon meringue pie. Just like mom made it. My wife two kinds of chocolate desert. We tipped well as my wife finisher her wine, reasonably priced. It is a large restaurant and can be a bit noisy but then that’s the foodie ethos her on the island, everyone having a great time.
