I don't understand just three stars. This is a great place. Perhaps it's because it advertises itself as a restaurante when it's a little more like a tasca. The fish was grilled to perfection and coated in sea salt. The result was what fancier preparations fail to achieve: fidelity to the ingredients and honest flavor.
Although there must be hundreds of small family restaurants in and around Lisbon , we found the welcome , the food AND THE VALUE , here really great . Seated as a group of 6 we were found a table , provided with menus quickly and had the local specialities explained and give recommendations for local wines . The meal was enjoyed by all and upon payment we were all give a free glass of port wine . Excellent place give it a try .
We felt there like we were at our friend's house. Waiter was very helpful, Eanglish and French spoken. As for food, fresh local fish, olives and bread, good wine at reasonable price ... and locals eating there.
The restaurant was empty and the staff had little English so we weren't sure what to expect! We were not disappointed. Bread, olives, sardine paste, cheese and mixed salad were offered to start. We declined the last two but enjoyed the rest. Our main course was Sea bass with boiled potatoes, beans and carrots- all perfectly cooked and nicely presented. From a choice of six desserts we selected mango mousse and fresh fruit salad. The mango was a pretty shade but tasted of sickly sweet custard! The fruit salad was good. We were offered coffee and liqueurs but declined. The bill came to 27 euros and included beer, which was good value for money.
