Bidrage med feedbackService was personal and pleasant. You're asked tochoose whether you have 2 or three courses, and then decide on a small range of the food items within these. We found it rather difficult to read the handwriting on the boards but the staff were helpful. The flavours of the foods were very good, but the portions were small. We felt that it was an expensive meal ( over €100 for a two course and three course, plus 4 glasses of wine).
We visited le Oui last night as a couple looking for somewhere special to celebrate our engagement whilst on a weekend away in Lille. The restaurant was recommended by a friend. We arrived at 8pm and were shown to a table downstairs in the cellar. The cellar is very ambient, nice lighting and a huge wine fridge to one side. The only problem...instead of a proper table and chairs, we were seated at a table with two huge armchairs which were so low it was like sitting with your knees by your chin. This was not only uncomfortable we couldn't reach each other to engage in unnecessary PDAs (public displays of affection). So we asked to be moved (and we were to a table with slightly more normal chairs) and then sat and watched as two other couple sat down at the same table and then asked to be moved. At this point in the evening we somehow slipped through a wormhole into a parallel dimension where time had no boundaries...Having taken our drink order, and despite saying 'I'll be with you shortly' (twice) our charming and friendly waiter failed to be with us for an entire hour. Eventually we ordered the beef Parmentier and a bottle of wine. 15 minutes later the wine arrived, so we made a start. Another 45 minutes later the waiter brought us some bread upon which we fell like ravenous hyenas. Then...what unspeakable joy! We remembered we had a brownie in our bag from earlier in the day...so we demolished the brownie too. By this point in the evening (10pm to be exact - 2 hours after we arrived) we were tired, drunk and hungry in equal parts. So when the beef Parmentier arrived it didn't touch the sides. It was tasty nevertheless. Very tasty. Having inhaled our main we thought we'd risk dessert so I had the tarte citron and my fiancé the rice pudding. Alas! The tarte was odd...over cooked on the edge and almost wet in the middle. And the rice pudding tasted nice but was crunchy. Mmmmmmm! The final sprinkling of fairy dust on the evening was when a smell of sewers gently serenaded our nostrils as we were finishing dessert...Enfin! To summarise the evening, one hour to order, one hour for food to arrive, 30 minutes to eat, pay and leave! What is surprising about all of this is that a) when we arrived the place was dead, it wasn't busy at all and b) there is a choice of 6 starters, 4 mains and 6 desserts. It's not an extensive menu so why did it take so long? The wine list is good however and we did like the setting. Had it not taken so long it would have been great. Ironically the fact it took sooooooooo looooooong made it almost amusing. That and the bottle of wine on an empty stomach...
We arrived slightly late, no issue for them. Very accommodating with lots of choices on the menu. I am a vegetarian and so the chef made me a special meal. overall slower service but good atmosphere and great food!
We were lucky to have a table without a reservation on a Saturday. However the table was located in the wineceller. In a dark corner nearby the toilets. Service was friendly but a bit chaotic. The food is OK. But we had to send back the Plat du jour (bavette) twice. Would not go here again.
Went here for lunch and all three dishes and dessert we ordered were delicious! The beef with foie gras was superb. The duck with peanut sauce was very good and so was the chicken with tiny round pasta. For dessert we had cheese cake which was light and very good. Highly recommend this place. Excellent flavors and technique used in preparation. The prices were also reasonable for the high quality food served!
