Bidrage med feedbackIt took forever for the waiter to come to our table of 4, we have made reservations 2 days ahead.After waiting more than an hour for our food the waiter comes and tells us that what we had ordered is now out of stock! Why wait for so long - because they couldn't care less about patrons.Since it was so late in the evening we took some soups and salads and left the place in less than 10 minutes.So after multiple trips to the "Îles" one thing that they are very consistent is the lack of service and they run out of seafood on a regular basis.
My husband & I had our last dinner on Iles de la Madeleine at this charming, cozy restaurant, decorated with an array of musical instruments and other interesting antique pieces. Wow! What a dinner! It was as if we had saved the best for last! During the past week, we had eaten dinner at 11 other restaurants, for lunches & dinners. Out of those 11 places, two had disappointed us. So we weren't sure whether we should try yet another new restaurant, or play it safe by returning to one of our favourites. Furthermore, my husband was a bit tired of seafood. But I had read wonderful reviews about La Folie Douce, so we decided to go there for our final night out. And we're thrilled that we did. My husband had a most wonderful sirloin steak -- cooked rare -- just to his liking. It came with a scrumptious peppercorn sauce. I am a soup lover -- and the parsnip/cauliflower potage exceeded my expectations! The side salad was one of the best I've tasted in years, due to the delicious raspberry-like vinaigrette that it came with. My fishcakes were exceptional, highlighted by yet another wonderful sauce. Just as I was saying to my husband that this chef must specialize in sauces, the chef actually came over to our table to ask us (and every other table afterwards) how we were enjoying our meal. So we had a nice chat regarding her not using much salt when she creates her masterpieces. The service was excellent, the candlelit atmosphere was warm and cozy, the food was exceptional. What more could we ask for??
Small restaurant with a ''home feel''.Good food and varied choices and good/friendly service. Nice ambiance with singing and dancing. Prices average. Try the local specialty which is called pot -au- pot which is like a seafood and potato pie.
My husband and I were here for dinner tonight and we loved it. The food is delicious, the decor is a warm, eclectic mix of tables, chairs and fixtures with interesting accents everywhere (including framed images in an old French style), the music is cool (playlist included some Django Reinhardt, Portishead, Nouvelle Vague), and the service by our attentive, friendly server Anne (whose English is excellent) was fantastic. I had the Pot en pot--one of the best I've ever had--which came with a delicious salad and beets (approx. $30). My husband had a calamari skewer that came with jasmine rice, potatoes and salad ($32)--he loved them, although we both loved the pot en pot more. For decor, ambience and quality of food, this place is now our favorite restaurant on the islands. We plan to return.
We stumbled across this restaurant on L'Etang-du-Nord one afternoon. The decor was funky, the menu interesting...so we returned later that night. What a tremendous meal. The pot en pot (seafood pie/casserole) is bursting with flavour and ingredients and the sebaste' (red fish?) - which seemed to be every restaurant's catch of the day - was equally tasty. We knew we had hit a gem when later in the week a local chef recommended it.You will find the service friendly, very attentive and bilingual. You may also have a visit to your table from the chef / owner. The only negative is the lingering smell of stale cigarette smoke - perhaps from a previous incarnation as a bar? If your looking for an excellent meal on the Iles de la Madelaine, then find La Folie Douce and enjoy
