Au Bout du Quai - Les Sables-d'Olonne

The restaurant is wonderfully located in an elevated position with views of the bay of les sables, but only four tables on the terrace can take advantage of the view. the staff was friendly and efficient, but there were little things that give up. only one...Weinglas was placed at each setting and they were not a fresh glass to change from white to red wine; no water glasses were laid, we had to ask for them. the menu was limited, which can be a good thing when eating that is served is very good, but the filet de boeuf was hard and tasteless. the starters were mostly seafood as they would expect in a fishing harbour, but overpriced. also the most important courses and desserts were expensive. there was a court that was served with a smoking cloche above it, but each smokiness was overpowered by the coriander in the sauce, rather pretentious for the type of restaurant. the knives for the main course were interesting, with a lighthouse design on the handle. we have learned that they were designed by a local craftsman, but they were quite inadequate to cut the hard steak. what really was the place down, though was the dreadful low quality paper serviettes they were single-layered, barely larger than a paper fabric no self-respecting restaurant should use them. seafood eaten with the fingers need decent serviettes. will not come back soon.

Beautiful, beautiful staff, extraordinary eating and everything necessary to spend a wonderful couple of hours with a 13-month baby. the personal could not have been more helpful. the squash soup was to die like the fish and. the steak of my partner in mouth melted. the desserts were the best chocolate cakes of all time.

We were offered a table for 9 with the best view you can have on the sands. good food, excellent wine, friendly and simple service for a decent price of about 20 € each. Recommended address.
