La Grotta Di Aligi - L'AQUILA

Always driven past and thought we must check this place out. And we had read the reviews! Well, what we found was a very traditional restaurant, a warm welcome and a relaxed atmosphere. The food we thought to be elevated over what we have become accustomed too was throughly enjoyable. We particularly enjoyed the pasta dishes. The secondi whilst being very good was served on a cold plate! (This might be fine in August, but on a cold November night, it just takes the enjoyment away! I did complain: as it was such a shame. The house wine was very good the dolce we enjoyed too. The Tiramisu was particularly light. We would most definitely go again wouldn’t be shy to ask for warm plates to match the welcome! The waiting staff were very attentive to us.

Excellent food. The most generous serving of truffles ever and the house wine also too good. Muah!

The menu is comprised of all Local to the area foods located at edge of the old town. Friendly, quality service from start to finish. All perfectly cooked delicious Pasta with lamb ragu, cima di rabe, arrosticini, t bone steak of veal, braised veal in Montepulciano. A great selection of Amaro to complete the meal. Wonderful wines.

I organized my graduation party and another girl's party that was held last night. the owner showed himself available from the beginning, recommending us menus, coming to meet us in all our choices. in the evening the service was perfect, the excellent courses (peace soup, chestnuts and spectacular mushrooms) and the wine of the house very good. in general a wonderful evening. 5 stars out of 5. recommended.
