I think they made a big step in the right direction. eating is now a modern Japanese, vegan kitchen. Soy meat, mock eggs and other vegan foods are mixed with vegetables. even the sweets are vegan. Unfortunately, they don't have an English menu yet, but it's coming soon. the staff is friendly and helpful, but they do not speak English. is available.

The restaurant has a lovely outdoor seating area for nice weather and multiple tables indoors. My dining companion and I enjoyed a Buddha bowl, a curry takeaway, two slices of banana bread/cake, a soy latte, and a blueberry soy smoothie with coconut ice cream while we waited about 10 minutes for our takeout order. The bentos were quite similar, but the curry option came with a small container of curry sauce. I appreciated the fresh ingredients used in the dishes, including the surprisingly tasty hijiki seaweed. The smoothie was delicious, and I look forward to trying the strawberry flavor next time. The only disappointing aspect was the latte, which tasted more like black coffee with a splash of soy milk. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and even offers jewelry for sale. The cherry blossoms lining the street outside were stunning. I did notice they were using real leather coasters, possibly from when the restaurant was not vegan before switching over in February. I will definitely return in the future. Highly recommended.
I ordered the curry for 990 yen and was pleasantly surprised at how filling it was. It was also delicious. The restaurant is conveniently located near the railway station and closes at 5 PM, making it a great option for a meal before heading back to the city. I will definitely be returning here. The restaurant is larger than I had expected, which was perfect for social distancing. I had to ask for napkins with my meal and they also offer a takeaway bento for 770 yen. I recommend adding a drink and dessert set to your meal. I have also left a review on Google Maps.
If you're looking to savor a meal of fresh, vibrant vegetables in one of the most beautiful settings in Japan, then Cotonoha is the place for you. I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. The salads were crisp and fresh, the curry was bursting with flavor, the soy meat was the best I've ever had, and I can't stop thinking about the creamy topping on the chocolate banana cake. I highly recommend this place!
