Bidrage med feedbackThe food is very average but the views are what makes this place. Fast and friendly service and a reasonable menu. We sat outside where they have plenty of tables, a lot of them in a covered area. This meant that we could sit and have our lunch of sweet chilli wrap and chips with some fabulous views of the loch. It’s obviously a busy place but they seem well equipped to cope and it didn’t feel overcrowded or overwhelmed by the number of guests.
Cycle to Dores Inn for some lunch many years since we ate there and it didn’t disappoint. Great choices on menu my Husband went for the traditional Fish Chips he says it was 10/10 I went for Sunday Roast Beef great portions sizes if I am picky my beef a bit chewy for my liking but what a plateful with a nice gravy and homemade Yorkshire pudding all in all great value for money
Tanya and her staff made us feel so welcome from the few drinks before our dook to our dinner in the bar with the dog. A special mention to Tanya's daughter that serviced us we both mentioned the word exceptional when discussing her as a member of staff. The food and service were more than we could have asked for. Big thank you
We arrived just after the Inn opened and given a table inside (at our request). We hadn 't booked but it soon became clear that many people had. We ordered from the Sandwich menu: a ham, lettuce and tomato baguette and a cheese and pickle baguette. The baguettes were fresh, crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. However the cheese and pickle baguette should have been called 'pickle with some cheese '. The amount of pickle was overpowering and made the baguette almost inedible. By sharing the two baguettes and removing much of the filling from the offending one, we were able to eat both baguettes. We pointed out to a member of staff that the amount of pickle made the food inedible but instead of offering to replace the baguette, he said that he would inform the chef. We heard no more and no reduction in price was given when we left. There is an outside eating area, part of which is covered with an open side marque to give views of the lock and an outside bar where food and drinks can be ordered. By 1pm this area was very busy. The Inn also appears to provide an 'out of hours ' toilet for the general public, operated by an honesty box. This is a great idea as the area doesn 't appear to have any public toilets. However it would benefit from signage. We would return if in the area again (there didn 't appear to be anywhere else to eat) but would be very careful with what we order.
Visited Loch Ness and Dores beach whilst staying in Inverness. We were looking for somewhere to eat and this was the obvious choice given its location although some of the reviews we read before going in were a bit off putting. Thankfully the food was great. We were able to sit outside whilst eating which was nice. The fish and chips were really nice and all of the food was good value. Speedy service as well considering how busy it was. It does have a fairly small menu but there should be something for everyone on there. Would definitely recommend, don’t be put off by bad reviews.
