Cafe Burkardt - Heidelberg

In the beautiful Heidelberg Old Town very centrally located. In front of the cafe only a few chairs,for a very beautiful courtyard(at the Friedrich-Ebert-Museum. Also in the local very pleasant ambience. The menu offers a crossover from bourgeois dishes and regional specialties. The service was flashy and friendly and quickly brought us to the refreshment cold lemon limonade with Melisse class We ordered: pork head bead with Bratkartoffeln tip Rumpsteak with beans and Pfifferlingen-O. Very recommended place and not the frequent tourist destination in Heidelberg.

We were at Cafe Burkhardt with a larger group and had a small side room to ourselves which was nice. The waiter was disorganized and surly and he did a terrible job at getting orders. We live in Texas so we are used to good Mexican food and I can share with you that Cafe Birkhardt's wasn't. The food arrived hot but it was inauthentic and tasted bad and we didn't finish it. E.g. the cauliflower tasted like an Indian curry.

Great food, exquisite wine and excellent wine-food-pairing. For me as a vegetarian with a meat-loving husband, finding a good restaurant isn’t always easy. Burkhardt is a rare gem with great vegetarian AND meaty food AND to top it all, a good wine list with many wines by the glass. Highly recommend it!

Great experience at this small and cosy restaurant. We were surprised with the creative menu with Spanish, Asian and South American cuisine. Loved the salmon bruschetta (can’t remember the exact name) and loved the poke bowl. Price is very competitive and service very kind. Hope they get a better ranking because they deserve it!
