Bidrage med feedbackIf you want a great tasting, go here. But if you don't like Nova Scotia sweet sauce and do not want to go a gyro or shawarma here. I had many different types of Donairs, Gyros, Shawarma and really enjoy the Donairs here. They are very traditional for Nova Scotia, so do not expect them to fill it with the Veggies, as you sometimes in Gyros or Shawarms. But if you want to try something local try it. The flavors go very well together and the meat has great taste. The portion sizes are very good and you will be full on a Donair.
We had hyped Donair for us before our vacation in Halifax and decided to check it out. We ordered two medium-sized Donairs, two drinks and cheesy garlic fingers for delivery. On arrival there was only one Donair and the garlic finger, so I had to call and ask for the rest. When our whole food finally arrived and we had to try, we were underwhelmed. The garlic cloves were fine, but we were selected from the coagulated looking sweet and warm white sauce that came with it. They were much better without the sauce. The Donairs themselves were also covered with the strange sweet sauce. The meat was pretty good, about what we expected, the onion and tomatoes added a nice taste, but were really smashed and type thrown so it was hard to get a good bite. But above all, this sauce drank everything. They lubricated as if they had fallen into sweet condensed milk. If you are a fan of Greek gyro or shawarma, this is not and it will throw you away. It is definitely not as good as just gyro with tzadziki or something.
When we were 3 bites, the orange fat had softened into the napkins... to save my LIFE, I could not have told you just what the kind of “meat” was in this thing... Keep away....to be honest, I had HAVE a “Doner Kebap” in Istanbul....iso I just suspect that the originators tried to emulsify...
King of Donair has the best Donais ever! Meat is coked for perfection and the beats are great. Seat available, but I prefer to take my order home, or sit by and enjoy.
So I've been hearing for years how amazing this place is. After wandering downtown looking for something to eat, and not feeling inspired by what was open and available, I remembered here! I quickly googled how to find it, and dashed off in excited expectation! I found it, and set about ordering a small donair with cheese. The menu was easy to understand, prices reasonable, and staff friendly! The meat (OMG!! , was perfectly seasoned, hot and delicious!! (And there was a ton of it! The tomatoes were crisp and fresh, and the onions were not overpowering. Absolute heaven! If you have been searching endlessly for the best donair out there, search no further, as this is it!
