Skyline Lodge - Ghent

Good service. Great on site restaurant. Good food good value. Live music. Craft beer on tap. Great location and the rooms were not nice, but they were clean. The shower was hot. Rooms were affordable. My little hotel. I hope to go back. Beautiful area and landscape. We were on the tour of the autumn leaves.

The lodge is the perfect place for a short holiday. The room was simple, had a microwave and a fridge, a small bathroom and two beds. However, the view was worth that the price was right next to the water. My fiancée and I went this case and could not stop saying wow to the view. Also the location is very close to Beckley and as many state parks as you want to hike. There is a restaurant on the ground floor and the food was pretty good. The bands were too loud to eat inside, but if that's your crowd, do it. We took part in the lobby. The food was fast, ten to fifteen minutes tops. This place is definitely a five-star place and five star price with three star rooms. The staff was very friendly and took care of everything we needed and helped to inform about the local area. I'd definitely stay here again.

Had a pleasant 3 night stay in this accommodation. It's really worth their prices. Very good smiling staff, especially Andy, who was at the reception, welcomed with full energy at the time of check-in at midnight! Rooms, washrooms are clean, no surprises!

Absolutely LOVED Janie and our room! I wouldn't say the room's gone. We booked for Labor Day weekend for our anniversary and the reception was nice. Surely we cannot control the loud guests, and the amount of alcohol they have consumed, or that each vehicle takes 2 points because they drive their side by side and on the main roads. BUT the Grill/Pub overhead was out of control. We wanted to sit on the deck to eat our food and they came out with whom I suspected was their son? And he started to get our waitress and the others. We thought we had to get in, but it seemed like the waitress had met him and sweated back. They smoke and curse 5 not even feet from our table; braggen over who they have slept with. I understand that I have to smoke outside, but they have no mind or attention to the guests who try to eat and a quiet meal right next to them. Overall, they were not very respectful of people or their surroundings. Janie was absolutely incredible. So helpful and friendly. The rooms have only blinds, no curtains; that you can see through them closed. The shower was hot, and the design was simple, but very cute. Bed was comfortable. We could be back, but definitely NOT on vacation. And we'll probably want to eat somewhere else.

Well... I get that the area is Appalachian and a bit red neck, however the rooms are very dated for a lodge resort . High points: The staff gets an A+ very helpful, accommodating and professional. Cleanliness A+ outdated but very clean. The Pub B+ comfortable atmosphere, reasonably priced. The food B+ the Friend Pickles are a winner! Nicely fried and seasoned. The burger was meaty, seasoned well, and juicy. Great frozen fries. Shrimp-n-Grits... hum... could have had more Grits and less sauce. They called them Creole. Well the shrimp were cooked well but the Trinity sauce was kinda offsetting. Tasted thrown together like a watered down Worcestershire sauce. But I have to admit that it did work in a very unpolished way. Down fall: Out of the control of staff... the rooms are very out dated. Bed sheets did not stay over the plastic mattress cover. The over puffy mattress with lack of bed slacks... ya sit on the bed and sink to the floor. But the lack of TV service... no cable but I 'm cool with streaming!! However, the lack of bandwidth to watch a show will force me to grade my room quality as an F. This really frustrated us!!
