It 's expensive, even after factoring in how good the meat tastes; quality, although not consistent, never falls short of excellent ; the venue is cramped and sometimes smokey (from the open grill), but is also cosy and even appropriate for business meals. So it 's definitely not perfect overall, but despite of all that I think they still deserve that 5/5: simply because their meat is just that good.
Just not as good in years gone by.The larger than life big burly chef has gone and some of the steaks were cooked unevenly.They were definetly smaller than before especially my favourite the Aberdeen Angus 500 grams .One had to go back and it took more than 20 minutes before a new one was provided by which time the rest of us had finished.Not brilliant service either.Sauces coming out between 5 and 10 minutes after the steaks.We had this booked for 2 nights on the trot but cancelled the second night plus the fact the waiter who took our money at the till was rude and abupt.
An absolutely expensive disappointment. Bad bad bad! First of all our reserved table was not ready when we arrived exactly when our booking was, we needed to wait for another table to finish eating and be set for us. This was very unprofessional. More so it then took more than an hour for the waiter to take our meal order! I have never had to wait so long for an order to be taken. When the food finally came my brother was waiting an extra 10 minutes to receive his food. The food itself was not up to the quality i was expecting, no seasoning no taste but a big price tag! Furthermore i do not understand how one can justify charging 39 euros per person for the sharing is caring meal when a steak cost 39 and we share it! Charging 80 euros for a shared plate! What makes this so bitter is that it was my fathers 60th birthday. What a shame we decided to book a table at de molen.
Great food and friendly staff! Perfect for meat lovers! with a small selection of dishes for those that are looking for something else. Meat grilled in an open fire gives this place a very nice atmosphere.
This restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you're in Genk. We managed to get a table for two without reservation but it was a Thursday and was still very busy so it's probably worth booking. The service was good and all the staff were attentive but not overly obtrusive. The steak my wife had was perfect; well cooked and the meat was beautiful. My chicken was marinated in a very tasy glaze and was succulent to taste. I did have food envy though!! All accompaniments were very good and the house white wine was very palatable. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in genk!
