My family and I came to eat here and went to the bathrooms before we went to take our seats and the manager came over and was so rude to us while we were waiting for our family to finish going to the bathroom before we took our seats. He came up and asked us what we were doing and I told him we were going to use the restroom before we took our seats and I asked him if the tunnels were open to tour (We saw on their website and were very interested in checking them out after our meal. he looked me up and down, said “no” very angrily, and stormed off. My family and I felt so uncomfortable we decided to just leave and not eat there. Before we left we wanted to make our trip here worthwhile, so we decided to check out the trails and river before we left since they were right on the campground close to where we parked. When we were leaving, the manager followed us out and asked us what we were doing and we told him we were here visiting and walked away to avoid any further issues with him since he seemed like he was in a bad mood. Walking to the river and bridges he then followed us and was pointing at us and counting how many of us there were while he was on the phone, at that point we were sure he was calling the cops on us, but we were doing nothing wrong, so we just kept walking the trails thinking that was the end of it. At the end of the trail, the manager comes up to us AGAIN with a golf cart asking us “when are you going to leave?” Very rudely then told us we are on private property and we need to leave. To avoid any further issues, we just decided checking this place out wasn’t worth the headache and just left. This is upsetting for a few reasons, our uncles were disc golfing at this campground on the same property and area earlier the same day and were not kicked out or even talked to, and on their website they don’t say anywhere that the trails or anything like that is private property. If we would have seen that the tunnels couldn’t be viewed, we wouldn’t be able to hike peacefully, or enjoy a meal without being hounded by the manager we wouldn’t have even bothered. I don’t recommend going somewhere that is ran by someone who is so rude to potential customers, we were going to come with all of our extended family here for dinner, but now none of us will ever go there again. If you want to be treated respectfully and nicely go somewhere else. I will not be giving my money to somewhere that is ran by someone who is so rude to people, that left a horrible taste in my mouth. Do better.
So delicious, loved interacting with the chefs. Made my taste buds sing!
Similar to another reviewer, we had a rather unwelcoming encounter with the male manager. We were interested in the history of the building and the historic photos displayed in the tunnel, but he was watching us like a hawk. When we went to use the restrooms he angrily barked at us, “you can’t be here! We have a wedding!” (This was a Thursday night, no wedding in sight. So, explain why we can’t use the restroom? This place has such potential but the manager’s angry demeanor, unfortunately, is a huge turn off. The female manager (owner? seemed very kind and welcoming. Pros: love the location, in the old Blind School. Menu is short but interesting, especially in this rural area where it seems like every place serves just burgers and fried food.
