J T Basque Dining Room - Gardnerville

I have driven past this place hundreds and hundreds of times. We finally had the chance to go here with some friends. The cocktails were crafted very well and the food was delicious. You will not leave here hungry or unsatisfied. The bartenders and servers were all amazing!!

Have always loved the family style dining available at Basque restaurants. J T Basque Bar and Dining does not disappoint. The interior is a history lesson of the Carson Valley. Quite rustic and historical. I loved it. The service was top notch. If we had a question, it was quickly answered. The server checked with us often and was very friendly. The food is fantastic. Today we had a plate lunch. The steak sandwich is to die for. The spaghetti and meatballs special was serviceable.

Step into this historic eatery for a truly one-of-a-kind supper club experience ? bringing together Old World and Old West sensibilities. Cowboy hats and Basque ceramics adorn the walls, while old-school jukebox and vinyl upholstered banquet chairs evoke a feeling from decades past. Meals are served family-style, coming in 5 generous courses of soup, salad, stew, beans and choice of entree. Rustic options include flavourful lamb shoulder steaks as well as pig feet and tripe cooked to tenderness in a red sauce. Complimentary wine, bread and French fries. Service is not only friendly, but attentive ? offering seconds to ensure diners leave fully satisfied.

Staff was pleasant and on top of everything. Atmosphere was interesting, old time fun. Food......... could be a lot better. ? Salad was lettuce leaves with oil and vinegar. Soup was a little salty. Rice and chicken, plus the beans all tasted the same. Semi curly fries were very greasy. I won't go back.

The hostess and waitress were both very nice. It was a fun experience for a dinner for 2, with the multiple courses. We ordered the lamb shoulder. It was SO SALTY. After 2 bites it was too much. It also had so many bones, that I am wondering if we got lamb chops... The side courses were not anything to write home about. Won't be back. 3 stars for good service and support of local restaurant, fun atmosphere
