Bidrage med feedbackWe sang here on a Sunday night. I had sent an email earlier and this was answered immediately. always a good start. we were a party of 2 adults and 2 children. the restaurant was quiet, but the host kathy and. you young helpers made us very welcome. special attention was devoted to children. kathy encourages her to order in French. the food was simply cooked and presented. as mentioned in previous reviews, the garbure was delicious and we could simply have consumed the pot, but for the necessity to keep some space for the rest of the meal. my daughter ordered the omelette that asked to contain ham, mushrooms and tomato. that was not a problem. other tweets to the menu have also been accepted without problems. the lamb was sooo delicious. the duck superb and the bark tasty. the desserts were good. kathys weinwahl, a bart aoc red, was also very good. all this and more for 80 euro!
Arrived at 7 pm, we were seated immediately at the covered terras next to the river. The waitress informed us that the service would commence at 7.30 pm but we got the apperitieves and the menu 's earlier. Both ordered the menu Le Tucq and for...two of the three children (8, 4 and 2 years old) the menu enfants. Honest, non-pretentious food. The soup Bearnais is an 'Erlebnis ', a hearty workers soup. An entrecote served in a way you really are able to enjoy the meat and the desserts are great as well. They 've got offroad parking and a small childrens playground. The waiting staff don 't speak a lot of English but they tried and together with our pigeon French we got by. Thank you and we 'll be back!
Five of us representing 3 countries dined here the last night of our week together at a gite down the road. It was a splendid evening, helped by the friendly and lively server/co-owner Cathy. The high point of the meal was probably the Garbure, a...soup that is a local specialty. And the wine list, though small, had some great choices. I even got to try a red Bearn wine from a producer I had hoped to visit but never did.
We stopped in after 8pm on a Thursday. The 2 of us were the only ones there to dine. A vast, multicourse meal for 25 E is the best deal I have seen anywhere. Good wine and beer, but we had drank much over the...week and went with lipton tea. I would have paid 15 euros just for the starter, a wonderful soup with ham and veg. A huge portion for 2. I had 3 bowls, my date 2, and still some was sent back. Rustic bread and butter are served along with the soup. I cannot say enough about Cathy, our hostess. Good English, and a delightful personality, we had to share pictures of grandkids with her! The Inn is remarkable with fireplace and tons of charm. Her husband, a vet like myself, does the cooking, except dessert, which she makes personally. We were also lucky enough to meet their youngest daughter. A plate of fine cold meats came next, followed by a perfectly cooked trout. We were given plenty of time to savor every bite; then brought our main course: for myself, a quail, whole, mushroom gravy and escalloped potatoes. My date had 2 lamb chops, crisp on the outside, yet rare in the center. Both had Tiny green beans, ever so delicate, as well. I was glad at this point for not having had wine, I would have had to have 6 glasses to match all this wonderful food. Yet, more was to come. Dessert. For give my spelling, my date had the local gateau Basque, a cake filled with sugar crème. I had the most perfect crème brulee; the sugar was so thin across the top, yet glassed to crispness without burnt, the caramel flavor was perfect with the sweet creamy base. It was after 10pm when we finally left, I do so appreciate their hospitality. Please, come and share this wonder of the Pyrenees, just south of Pau, France.
Excellent accueil dans cette petite auberge, et très agréable terrasse au bord de l'eau. La carte est variée, les plats sont simples mais bons et les assiettes copieuses.
