I passed this place on my walks many times, but never found it open. "Open hours" were not displayed on the outdoor sign.

The tea service included 4 slices of bread and butter with minuscule pieces of cheese, 2 mini biscuits, jam, and 4-5 pieces of different dry cakes that were neither fresh nor tasty. For this we paid 160 ARS per person. It is also way too much food.

We specifically chose this tea house because of its long history and ties to the original Welsh immigrants. Because of this we thought we might experience a slice of home but actually it was very disappointing. The door was locked so we had to ring the bell which got us in via a less than pleasant welcome. It felt a bit like we were intruding so we took our seat and ordered the standard tea. While waiting for this we wandered round the "museum" which consisted of many historical artifacts placed in glass cabinets and hung up around the tea room walls. The delivery of the food was prompt but almost inedible. The buttered bread that accompanied the cheese was very dry with a thick dense texture. The large selection of cakes looked impressive but all seemed a bit stale like they'd been baked days before and stored in readiness for service in a freezer. The worst were the scones which were so hard and tasteless - actually we couldn't eat them. Maybe our food was so bad because we were the first visitors of the day which meant we got the leftovers from the day before? Two things were OK - the jam and the tea. The full pot of tea delivered complete with handmade tea cosy is actually the best cuppa we've drunk in quite some while. Would have preferred to have paid the ARG pesos 85 for a better experience in one of the many other tea houses close by
