Bidrage med feedbackWent here with some friends for dinner. Parking is a bit of a pain because there is only a small lot in the back and practically no street parking. The place does not have many tables so you may want to get a reservation. Service was good. Sushi was very fresh and tasty. They had a wide variety of fish and they do offer omakase which is great. They also have some kitchen dishes like agedashi tofu. My only issue was the portions of fish which seemed a bit small for the price.
Sushi is fresh and very well prepared. Staff is friendly, location is cramped and seating is limited so plan to come early. Parking is around the corner out back. The food is pretty close to authentic as you can get in the United States, with some changes to ingredients as necessary.
The restaurant may be small, but it has a cozy atmosphere. I believe an older gentleman was responsible for preparing my sushi platter, which was quite tasty. I also sampled the wagyu beef sushi; while it was a unique experience, I wouldn’t say it justified the $10 per piece price tag. The service, however, was exceptional. Just a heads up for those interested in enjoying an alcoholic beverage with their meal: this establishment is BYOB.
I can’t believe we stumbled upon this truly authentic Japanese restaurant while leaving New York. It’s fantastic! They offer traditional Japanese cuisine that makes you feel like you’re in Japan. We ordered the lunch boxes— I had the mackerel and my husband had the salmon. Both were incredibly fresh and delicious, prepared with the skill that would impress even the Iron Chef. We also sampled the deluxe sushi, which was excellent! Despite the tough time we had finding parking, it’s definitely worth a visit. We would absolutely go back!
Hiura has been a staple for quite some time, and its experience is reflected in the prices. The food is elegantly prepared and of high quality, but for those with hearty appetites, the portions may feel a bit on the smaller side. If you're looking for an authentic Japanese dining experience, this is one of the best Japanese restaurants in Fort Lee.
