Il Rifugio Pornito - FORMIA

Tireds of the beach we decided to make a trekking on the Monte del Redentore. After the beautiful and tiring walk, there was a pleasant surprise waiting for us, the Pornito Refuge. Perfect service, breathtaking views and sublime food! Thank you.

We know well this corner of paradise a few kilometers from Formia fruit of the vision of people who know the places. A few kilometers that make you escape from the lime and heat of the sea and make you fall into another world. Genuine food, homemade and as always great, a goat in the spectacular pan but this is only the corollary of a show that always leaves open mouth. A view of all the spectacular gulf, aerial, was clearly seen all .. from Ponza and Ventotene, to Ischia until the Neapolitan clair. Greetings to Martha and her companion, exquisite people.

To say that it is wonderful is reductive, because the location, quality and kindness of the staff make this magical point.

We arrived by bike to this refuge after an infinite climb of 25 km hungry and grateful to be able to refresh us. In these conditions if they offered us a rolled shoe we would have eaten it without problems. That said we share in two the review between location and food consumed. Location: 5 well-deserved stars! place from the breathtaking panorama and warm and comfortable environment. Restaurant: 4 stars. The very good appetizers, remained a disappointed thread from the first ones from the rather reduced portions. Other friends ordered the mixed grill and had a great look. I visited this place in May 2016 for dinner and May 2017 for lunch. The ride up the mountains above Formia and Maranola is great. Be careful, road is very narrow in some places. Once up there, the views of the mountains and the bay of Gaeta and the views to Vesuvius, to the island Ischia, to Amalfi coast, to Gaeta, to the island of Ventotene etc etc is absolutely stunning if it's on a clear day. I had made a reservation beforehand (email) and a table was ready for us for lunch. We were 4 people. In 2016 we came after sunset and the whole group of 10 people ate inside very cozy it has a cabin feeling. For lunch we were on the terrace. The couple who runs the place is very very friendly. She can speak English, he speaks only Italian. All the appetizers are tastier than anything I have eaten in this region over the 1,5 years I have lived here. The main courses we chose pork chop and chicken were tastier than any meat we've had in a long time. The hike that can be taken from Maranola or from around this restaurant is stunning. Good hiking shoes are required and lots of water. In the right weather one can hike all the way to the top.
