Bidrage med feedbackThe food is delicious and the service is quick. We prefer to get take out from here when we are looking for a healthy option and don't want to cook.
With Curry in their name it was probably foolish of me to try non-curry dishes. The crab rangoon were triangular-folded under-fried wonton wrappers filled with a tablespoon of cream cheese and imitation crab. The pad thai was completely bland. If I had just ordered these two things, this would be a 2-star review. Luckily, I also ordered the jungle curry with chicken which was much better. It was spicy and creamy, with bamboo shoots, carrots, zucchini, and plenty of chicken. I would order this again, and maybe try another curry while I'm at it. The pad thai... never again. Overall, the curry was serviceable, and the portion sizes were big. $26 after tax got me about 3 meals worth of food.
We got takeout from here for a birthday meal as this was one of the few restaurants that was open on a Monday. The ordering online was pretty easy, as was pickup at the restaurant. For our order we got a red curry with chicken, a mixed veggie curry with chicken, a cucumber salad, a squash curry tofu, a jungle curry tofu, a fresh veggie roll, and roti paratha. All with a mixed level of spicing. The spiciest one we got was a +2 and it had a nice heat to it. I think I would probably go up to a +3 next time, but I like pretty spicy food. It's my secret method for not having my husband eat my food! All of the curries were very flavorful, although I will say I preferred the tofu to the chicken. I also kind of wish that the squash curry would have had broccoli in it, but I just mixed and matched with the veggie curry. The cucumber salad was pretty average and had plenty of peanuts. The veggie roll had some issues in transit in that a few of the containers spilled/leaked a little and the veggie roll got a little soaked. That being said, it added some additional flavor to the roll! Overall pretty good food, and the only real issue was that the foods spilled a little in transit.
I've gotten takeout and eaten in at both this location and the University Ave location but just now posting a review! I think I may like this location more. The quantities, at least tonight, were bigger and a higher normal spice level on my delicious pineapple curry. Always so good, with the big pineapple chunks and fresh, plentiful chicken. Paired with rice roti joy. I also drank the mango lassi which was solid. I have food for leftovers which is always good. My friend got the Panang curry and Thai iced tea. She loved the curry but preferred other Thai iced teas. Overall, I think a good value for a plentiful, hot, and tasty dinner no frills. Not ideal that dine in still involves takeout containers, but understand in this environment.
Curry in the Box is a great option for curry and other Asian dishes especially when you want it somewhat quick but not your typical fast takeout type places. Service was always good pre-COVID when we'd sit down, but takeout is just as good! My most recent occasion of ordering from here was on a Tuesday when every other Thai place we tried before it was closed. I'm personally not a curry fan so I don't order their signature curry dishes, but their Pad Thai always satisfied and I appreciate that they give you a generous amount of chicken (or whatever meat you choose I'd presume) mixed in with your dish. Definitely worth checking out!
