Criterion Hotel - FINCH HATTON

Fantastic find - catering for gluten free .... crepes with GF meat pie fillings. I had roast pork & apple sauce crepe. Yummy. Wonderful selection of meat pies for non GF also.

During a visit to MacKay, tourist information was pointing us in the direction of Eungella - see the platypus, see a waterfall, swim in some lovely swimming holes, eat some famous meat pies, have a lovely morning tea in a mountain tea-house. Once we headed off, nothing was signposted very well and we couldn't find anything easily (or at all). The mountain tea-house wasn't anything special, but on the way back we pulled into the Criterion Hotel (which had a coffee and cake flag outside). What a lovely little restaurant with a very comprehensive menu. We had a lovely lunch and would happily eat there again.

We stopped here for lunch, and were the only people in the restaurant, which is not a good sign. But the pumpkin salad was surprisingly very good. Also had a dessert which was okay but not as great as the salad.

This is a lovely family friendly hotel where there are meals for everyone. The seafood is my favourite and it is cooked exactly right....lighter meals for seniors and kids and a choice of cakes and pies are on for the offering.

Stopped in here at 8.30am on a Sunday morning for a breakky on our way home from Eungella (there was no where here open earlier than 9:30am) and was greeted by a friendly lady ready to take our order. Our coffees were average in quality but size was great. Our meals of breakky eggs were huge and proved good value for money. The lady prepared our coffee and meals all by herself so couldn't give any bad criticism especially when the place was open at a reasonable time (8am). We'll stop here again when we pass through next.
