I ate at this establishment today and ordered poached eggs on toast. After l started eating the second eggs l encounted a bad taste in my mouth and looked at the egg and noticed the yoke was a cloudy strange colour. I pointed this out to the management but they were in denial about any problem with the dish. So no apology and no compensation. Worst was still to come as about an hour later l was viontley ill and vomiting uncontrollably for hours. I'll never return to this place and will also tell all my local Redfern friends to stay clear also
Located not far from Redfern station, Fern St Eatery is a great little cafe that opens 7 days a week. We started with coffee and it was amazing (from The Little Marionette). For the main dishes we chose The Fern Street Beef Burger and Fish Tacos. The burger was simple but done right. The patty was thick and perfectly cooked and the fries were crispy and yum. The Fish Tacos was my dish of the day. It looked so convincing and also delivered in terms of flavours. Will be back for it. To end the meal we opted for the gluten-free brownie and salted caramel slice. Both were decadent without being too sweet.
The burger is made with beef brisket. Pretty good chips on the side
I’ve just had the most appalling experience. I asked for a dish I know is on the menu but in short hand not the correct name as per the menu. Abruptly I was told they don’t serve I pointed this is what I wanted the rude wait staff instead of staying thanks and moving on he kept laboring the point. Completely not needed. The music is loud and I had asked for a type of tea and when I return I reminded that I didn’t take milk. He clearly hadn’t or couldn’t hear me and when I repeated my tea in a frustrated tone he told me not to be rude. This isn’t the first time I have had poor service from this wait staff. He is abrupt and doesn’t stop to listen to your orders. I walked out and went next door to be served by pleasant staff who couldn’t do enough to make me feel welcome. I am a local and I will be telling my friends of my experience.
