Kvitfjell is one to visit. It's home to one of the most challenging downhill slopes in the world. On the south west side you have many other slopes to choose from and family friendly too. However, just like Hemsedal, the view on a fine sunny day is breath taking. Off-pist possibilities are many and suites any skier. Hafjell, which is about 30 min away is well worth a visit once you are in the area, and can easily be combined.
A good ski area. next to the target area of the olympiade there are two important places. with the help of zitat and skitorget, which both have skishops with rent, cafeteria, ski school etc. the child area in the middle of the meditation is not terrible good and the belt was broken when we were there. which is acceptable at skitorget and has a child transport belt and drag lift (button). the Olympic descent (1a 1b) is a predominant part of this. Although the upper part (1a) is closed during our visit, it is great. steep and icy really fast. when we have visited the end of the 4th january, there are 5 slopes where closed what makes the opposite small. ok for 3 days with the family, but not enough for a week. not even close. tipp: the rental shops at the two locations are part of the same company and they can return equipment in both, regardless of where it was picked up. the house we had rented had ski in/out, but it was badly marked, and not very smooth. we had to do this in a round. in classic Norwegian style, the cabin is badly numbered and impossible to find near. it's like they don't want to tourist.
Great location. many different options for all apartments. although they are aware that many of the red hangings could share some black feeling. the olympiahang is a classic, but requires a profi. can be overcrowded at the weekend, but on weekdays the place is not so populated so that the pists are pretty clear.
Beautiful pists, beautiful view, but the green slopes are quite steep for beginners. after training
