The Chocolate Moose - Ely

This restaurant should be higher rated. It was so good we went twice in our long weekend trip. Patty melt for lunch was the best I’ve had in a long time. The current French themed dinner was also very good. My husband loved his steak frites. Service was quick even though they were busy.

Pretty good lunch of walleye sandwich. A little overpriced. Good service.

We decided to try the Moose for dinner during our vacation, and I’m so glad we did! The coq au vin was one of the best meals I’ve had in ages, and the steak frites was amazing too according to my wife. Highly recommend!

On a cloudy, cool day, what is better than a trip to Ely from the resort. We’d heard about long wait times at “the moose”, so were prepared. Put our name in And shopped. Received call that a table is available. Our party of 6 were seated at a spacious table and had already studied the menu posted outside. A blood Mary, Chardonnay, and sodas were ordered. We had an experienced and fun server familiar with California so lots in common. I had pulled pork sandwich, huge and tasty, others had chili, they loved it, salads and burgers rounded out the choices. We will return next summer for our annual trip and eat lunch at “the moose.”

I recently stopped here for breakfast, and I’m so glad I did! I’m bummed I wasn’t able to grab lunch and dinner. My breakfast sandwich was delicious! I loved both the bacon and the sausage. This sandwich definitely filled me up for a long, active day. Service was great, we were seated right away outdoors. I highly recommend stopping at this gem in Ely!
