Bidrage med feedbackThis is a wonderfully old school, traditional Hungarian restaurant in the Old Town which we stumbled across accidentally and I'm glad we did. Hungarian cuisine is possibly the most underrated food in Europe and even in moderately priced traditional restaurants you can get excellent value and quality. The menu is in Hungarian but one of the dishes we ordered was quite spectacular : layers of potato cakes topped with pork, duck liver and mushroom ragout
Everything we ordered tonight was tasty, freshly made and with superb quality of service. This is how you want to celebrate special days like Polish Hungarian Friendship Day :
Soups were very good but one needed to be heated further. Trout plates were good but salty and fried, even though the menu said grilled . The chicken and rice plate was also very salty. I was disturbed with one aspect of the service... we arrived at 8pm and they were closing at 9pm. Upon arrival, we asked the servers if it was too late. They said no, so we stayed. At 9:06pm, we were finishing up... with 3 tables still in the restaurant and sweat on my forehead, I asked the server if he could turn on the small air-conditioner above our table. He said no, because the restaurant is closed . Maybe it was a bad night.. but this is not how customers should be treated.
Good prices, fast personnel. They accept various meal cards. Trying 'csülök ' is a must. :
It 's a lovely traditional restaurant, with huuge portions at so much cheaper price than in Budapest. Waiters are a bit slow, but the food is tasty. Trout with vegetables was lovely, so was the 'chicken bag ' filled with cheese, ham and onion. It was funny that there were some poppy seed grains in the fruit salad was the cherry taken out from poppy seed pancakes? :
