New Tan Tan - Edmonton

The restaurant is conveniently located within walking distance from downtown, across from Canada Centre on 97th Street, about half a block north of Jasper Avenue. It is big, clean, and staffed with super friendly employees. It is recommended to arrive by noon, as the offerings tend to diminish as the place fills up. They offer traditional cart service, allowing you to choose exactly what you want. The dim sum was served piping hot and fresh from the steamer, a unique experience that I had never encountered before. I tried the shrimp, pork, and beef with ginger, but there are many other types to choose from - just ask! I will definitely be returning, as I also enjoyed their excellent chili oil, which had a nice flavor and just the right amount of heat.

The dim sum is fantastic, especially the shrimp on green peppers. I have not tried anything other than the dim sum items, but they are available all the time, not just on Sundays.

Good, but not great.. I went in on a Saturday to satisfy my dim sum craving. I went in the late afternoon, so the place was empty. As such, the service was perfectly fine, as the server only had me to take care of. The food was pretty good- I had the steamed pork dumplings, shrimp dumplings, steamed pork buns, beef spareribs in black bean sauce, and steamed beef dumplings. The menu was a bit limited, as they didn't have fried taro root pork dumplings (yeah, I dig on swine) much to my disappointment. What I did get was tasty, however.<br/ <br/ Overall, I liked my experience, but I want to see what this place is like on a busy night before I make any final judgements.
