Bidrage med feedbackA great German dining experience. As I can't compare to actual in country dining(yet) the food was fantastic. Soups are a must, delicious and hearty. Chicken and shrimp dish was great. Bread and beer was authentic. Prices vary but most were above $30 when all was said and done. On Whyte ave which is currently under some construction so it was a pain to get there. Parking is around back.Dietary restrictions: Has gluten free options.Wheelchair accessibility: Slightly cramped seating but could be accommodated.
Best pickle soup in town. Wonderful Hungarian goulash as well. Great room with a wonderful ambiance and view of the denizens of Whyte Ave to entertain you during dinner.Update: still rocking the pickle soup and goulash... continues to be a go to when in Edmonton.
We had a wonderful dining experience at this charming little restaurant! Our party of 3, one of whom is gluten-free, enjoyed the fact that she could choose anything from the menu without any concerns. Our server, although new, was friendly and eager to please. There was a great selection of wine and internationally brewed beers. The soups were amazing, with the borscht being a personal favorite. The appetizers, particularly the smoked salmon and escargot, were excellent, with the escargot being the standout. We would love to come back just for the appetizers! The main dishes were good overall, with the schnitzel being a standout for its crispy and juicy texture. My rouladin was a bit dry and lukewarm, while the tartare was slightly over seasoned but had quality meat. Dessert was a strudel, which was decent for a gluten-free pastry, but we wished there was more filling. Despite a few minor issues, we had a really nice overall experience.
We ordered a few items for take out, one of them being the beet root salad. The first issue I encountered was the portion size. I thought there must have been a mistake and I was given a side salad rather than the full salad as the portion size was extremely small. The second issue I encountered was that I had specifically asked for the dressing on the side so as not to have a soggy salad when I got home. Needless to say the dressing was on the salad. The third issue was that in the description it clearly says there are walnuts in the salad. There was none to be found. The overall experience has left me unsatisfied and extremely disappointed.
This place is amazing. The dill pickle soup was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially to those who are gluten-free or have celiac disease. The entire menu is gluten-free, making it a great option for those with dietary restrictions. Overall, it is an excellent choice for someone who is celiac.
