Bidrage med feedbackEmpires is a stunning restaurant with beautiful decor and a serene atmosphere. The food is delicious and offers great options for vegetarians, although more choices for vegans would be appreciated.
This restaurant offers four types of Turkish mezze plates - one vegan, one vegetarian, one meat-based, and one dip-based (which may have been vegetarian-friendly, but I'm not certain). All mezze plates come with a basket of pita bread. I appreciate the tasty vegan option they offer, and I have shared a picture of my meal consisting of 2 falafels, 2 dolmades, artichokes, hummus, warm green beans in a tomato sauce, and salad. The food was filling and flavorful, but the price of £14 per plate was a bit steep for such simple dishes. If the price was lower, I would highly recommend this place.
This restaurant is absolutely charming. As soon as you walk in, you are greeted by the inviting smell of incense, a delightful atmosphere, and staff who are attentive to the needs of vegan diners. We were seated in a cozy window booth, adorned with plush pillows that made for a very comfortable dining experience. We decided to try a variety of Mezes, and our favorite was the Fasulye - a delicate green bean dish that didn't require any naan to complement it. The Ezme and Humus were also delicious choices, and we couldn't resist ordering their mint tea, which was simply delightful. By the end of our meal, we were so full that we had to pass on dessert!
I've just eaten here. I asked the waitress what was vegan friendly and the waitress talked me through the menu. There was nothing she said non vegan that wouldn't have appeared so at 1st glance at the menu. Thus I had quite a bit to choose from. The menu and pricing goes based on the client chooses a platter based on the number of mezze dishes in the platter, It was £12.95 for the 3 mezze platter and 15.95 for the 5 mezze platter. I had the 5 mezze platter. I have to say it was delicious. each of the mezzes though wasn't overly so I am glad I went for the 5 as the 3 I don't think would have been enough. There bread and a little salad included. There's also a special all you can eat party platter at I think was £21.95. Delicious as the food was, it felt a little on the pricey side. 10% was added to the tab for the mezze (not for the drinks that while extra, didn't seem to incur the service charge). Thus if you are watching a tight budget, there's defo more economical alternatives elsewhere foodwise. If you are looking to put some booze away though, you could maybe save some cash utilsing that this place is BYOB. Decor and atmo were utterly fine as was the demeanour of the waitress. If I was eating with someone who refused to go to an all vego restaurant, I'd be happy to eat here again no problem at all. Otherwise it would be one of the nearby all vego restaurants in Edinburgh for me. If this place was all vego I'd defo rate it higher.
At a loss where I eat and my girlfriend suggested Turkish, seen as we never had... So glad she did. The staff, I suppose the big guy was the boss, was very attentive. Before I even had 2 sips of my Turkish beer (which was nice and easy) our food was here?! I thought the records they offer were too much, but it was just right. It wasn't hot either, so you could fit in right. Between us we had the veggie and not veggie plated and loved every part of it. Great interior while waiting for your food for the whole 2 seconds. £40 for two plates and 2 beers, somewhat more than expected, but it is worth recommending this place very much.
