Bidrage med feedbackThis is such a great and simple way of offering different types of bacon.Walking by and smelling the bacon is a major draw. The menu is simple and for a Brit a real delight having a bacon butty. I had the bacon grilled cheese. It was very filling due to the amount of rashers and delicious.I didn't try their brown sauce as I don't like it or HP back home.I just wish we had this back in the UK as it would be so popular but perhaps it wouldn't be good for my waistline.
I have always loved this place because it's guilty comfort food. Tucked away in Leslieville on Queen Street, it is worth the commute outside of downtown Toronto. The small quaint little shop oozes a friendly neighbourhood sandwich shop. You'll find all things bacon related here and you can fulfill all your guilty pleasures. My personal favourite is the bacon Brie cheese sandwich. The savour sandwich will sure to satisfy any craving you have. The staff are quite the local neighbourhood characters and know all the hottest local tickets in town.Everything is very reasonable priced and you'll surely be satisfied.
I initially walked right past this restaurant and only noticed it by accident on my way back. Inside, there are a couple of bar stools, but it is very hot. It may be nice in the winter, but it was uncomfortable with the temperature at +26oC outside. I would recommend getting take-out instead. I have to give credit to the staff for working in such heat. I ordered the "bacon butty", which comes with five rashers of British bacon between two slices of lightly toasted bread and a coating of brown sauce (not HP). I took my sandwich to a local park down the road to eat, and it was very tasty with the sauce not being too overpowering. This was the best bacon sandwich I have had since moving to Canada. I wish there was a similar place closer to home in Alberta, even though my waistline might disagree. For $9, it was very filling and I will definitely be back next time I'm in Toronto. However, I will remember to ask for it without butter on the bread next time.
Its the mouth-watering smell that grabs your nose and drags you into this small, hardly larger than a closet, sidewalk tight bacon sandwich serving gem. The guys behind the counter shout the orders and the cooking staff scramble to fill them. The air is heavy with beads of bacon grease that the little sunlight filtering through the window turns into rainbow rice bits. Although you can dress it up with eggs and cheese and such, the basics are the basics. Soft white bun whose job is to hold the bacon, not compete with it, piled high with yummy cooked just right back bacon topped with beer-bar mustard. Paper wrapped. Find a park bench nearby. Sit and much silently. Worth every caloric bite. Go for a long walk. Work off those calories.
My son and I went to Rashers for a "brunch". Excellent choice. The bacon sandwhiches were excellent - lots of bacon, lots of condiments / add ons, hot and quick. Not a fast food place, but not a sit down either. Have some neat seats on the pavement.Well worth it. Good value.
