Doncaster Greek Tavern - Doncaster East

It is so hard to find a decent Greek restaurant in Melbourne with honest traditional and tasty food. This place delivers that with amazing friendly service like you would find in a Greek village. The food is simple, traditional and oh so tasty! We walked...in to a very busy and bustling Saturday night thinking we would be turned away. But instead were greeted by smiles and welcomed to a table available by the door, which didn’t bother us. Overall we were waited on by maybe three different staff whom were all just so friendly that we already wanted to come back without eating the food

Quality is good but the size of dishes are so small and a bit expensive. Atmosphere was good and so friendly good for one time trying.

My family has arranged to celebrate my brothers and my new sister in law's civil wedding reception at the Doncaster Greek Tavern. We were greeted with the seafood and meat platters and various entrees dessert which made the night a wonderful experience. Thanks to...our host Gloria and Stefano and crew for the food which was very flavorful and service is outstanding. Sa mga pilipino dito sa Melbourne or visiting the state, pumunta kayo dito kila Gloria and Stefano subukan ang kanilang pagkain.

What was meant to be a celebration with family, ended up being a fiasco (expensive one at that). Where to start booked a table well in advance, turn up Saturday night to discover another family sitting at our table. We brought this to the...attention of staff, who informed us that the family refused to move they had a table booked in the rear of the restaurant (much like a badly decorated carport) but much preferred our table. Reluctantly, we moved to their table. The food portions are meagre at best (appeared to have shrunk over recent months), sent the calamari back (it was inedible disgusting), however the fish was nice. Service was appalling, dishes were coming out in no apparent order not to mention slow.....all in all 3.5 hours wasted. Never again......stay away folks.....

I have been frequenting this restaurant for 30 years, under two different owners, and the quality of food and service has consistently been exceptional. It is my favorite Greek restaurant.
