In our opinion, the food here was very average. We wouldn't go back. But given the name of the restaurant, we should probably have ordered chickens. My wife hated her meal, which was basically baked with vegetables and cheese and was basically unusable. My meal was baby pig and was very dirty. At least we had a very pleasant waitress that we liked very much, although she spoke zero English, but she could understand our Spanish. When leaving the restaurant I watched the cook BBQing and the chicken looked very good, so I think our experience would have been much better if we had ordered chickens.
The parrilla here is great, and good value. Service on our night was a little slow as they seemed to prioritise their take away service for the festival that was in the main square. But the actually food is delicious.
We ate at Anastasio 3 times during our 10 days in Chacras. They have a wide variety of food on their menu. They serve traditionally parilla but we were here for the chicken. Each time we ordered close to the same thing. Empanadas criollos to...start, chicken and fries. The empanadas are excellent and you see many people coming in to get them to take out. The chicken comes in lemon or chimichurri our waiter suggested we do both so we did and it the sauce was fantastic! The only disappointment was the fries. Both times we ordered them they were pretty limp and had not seasoning. They just needed to be cooked longer and a little salt thrown on top. On our second trip (for lunch) we ordered fries but they didn't come. Instead we got the roasted vegetables which were very good. Although the wait staff tries very hard, the service can be hit and miss. On our first visit we received bread with a delicious garlic dipping sauce. On the subsequent visits, it wasn't offered. It's a very busy restaurant and they just need a little tweaking to get things running a bit more smoothly. A dedicated bus person would certainly help. If you are tied of all of the red meat, this is a great alternative! Meat lovers can also order a parilla!
This joint was recommended by our hotel. It looks good, with the flaming BBQ wafting aromatic smells from a block away. We ordered the steak and fries, supposedly a 400 gram steak which my wife and I would share. One of the waiters spoke English...and we emphasized rare or medium rare. What we got was well done and certainly not 400 grams. We thought it was kind of a tourist ripoff. Potatoes were good, just a chintzy well done steak. Sorry, just an average steak joint, bordering on poor.....
