45 minute wait for avocado toast, which actually came out wrong.

Having moved from NY, I'm familiar with Isla Co. Unfortunately, wasn't expecting NY prices especially with the food service and quality I experienced for brunch. The restaurant wasn't fully seated and we waited over 30 minutes for our food. When it did arrive, part of our order was wrong and the rest was cold/hollandaise was cold and lumpy. I was charged $7 for a side poached egg that was also served cold. I emailed the Isla team to share my experience with no response in 2 weeks. For me, that's the worst trifecta of a no-go restaurant: overpriced $80 brunch for 2), poor execution cold eggs) and minimal customer service and management. Only plus to this place is the cute interior. It's a good atmosphere but not worth more than a martini or morning coffee drop-in.

We went here on Sunday around 1:30 and will never be back. Pretty terrible experience all around. Of the maybe 15 tables in the place, only three tables in the restaurant had guests, we were 2 of 6 patrons and had our water filled twice, had 0 check-ins from our waiter on how our dishes were which were awful) and it seemed the staff would rather stand behind the bar making their own coffees than attend to the guests. The food was overpriced, overcooked and underwhelming. $21 for a cheeseburger that was a glorified cafeteria patty, 0 seasoning, bun that fell apart and non melted cheese. $18 for Quinoa bowl that you had to pay to add protein $7 for shrimp) which came with 4 total pieces of shrimp, also under seasoned and overcooked. Probably would’ve overlooked the bad service if the food was even decent, but it was bad. Will never go back.

I’ve been to Isla Co four times and I just can’t get on board. I like all the cocktails I’ve had here (especially the smoke show), but I have not loved most of the food I have had here. Just doesn’t feel like I’m eating something worth what I pay for. Super cute restaurant and they always play good music, but sadly I usually leave disappointed.
