Bidrage med feedbackAmazing. I highly recommend it. The atmosphere, experience, and service were all wonderful. The owners, Heather and Mick, were delightful.
It is unfortunate that this once lively and inviting village pub has been allowed to deteriorate. It now only opens sporadically, if at all. Having been familiar with this establishment for many years, it is disheartening to see it struggling to stay open as a pub. One can only wonder what the future holds for it. During our recent stay in the area, the pub was only open on Thursday night from 6pm to 8pm. It is a shame for the locals, who have always supported the pub, and for the tourists who will be disappointed to find it closed. Despite our attempts to reach out to the owners for information on their hours, we received no response. For a decent, traditional pub in the area, consider visiting the Royal Oak in Hornby instead.
During our stay in the village, we visited this pub for a quiet drink on three evenings. The owners were really friendly and the pub was exceptionally dog-friendly, providing water and treats for our little dog. The ambience was lovely and they had a great music playlist. We also enjoyed a nice meal on Saturday night, nothing fancy - just scampi, chips, and peas, but it was hot and tasty. Unfortunately, there was nothing vegetarian on the menu, but they were more than happy to make a vegetarian meal for my partner. The log burner in the corner added to the cozy and welcoming atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Cosy and very nicely decorated and a good beer garden. We didn't eat there but it was a very welcoming and pleasant experience for a couple of drinks when out for a late Sunday walk.
Staying in the village went for a meal on the Wednesday evening. Our dog was made most welcome with a bowl of water a bowl of dog biscuits. The staff were extremely friendly helpful. I had an unusual starter of Morecambe Bay shrimps on a crumpet, most unusual but delicious. This was followed by by the thickest, most moist sea bass ever served with new potatoes green vegetables followed by a homemade mint chocolate mousse which was light delicious. My husband had chicken wings fish chips which was really good. Will definitely return if in the area again.
