The menu is simple and straightforward, you can choose to get any of the preset recommended rolls, or choose your own a là carte. The preset combos are better bang for buck if you enjoy everything offered!We ordered the toro, salmon, crab, scallop and shrimp hand rolls, which arrive fairly quick and is encouraged to be consumed asap for the best quality taste. I would have done without the crab as it reminds me of a tuna salad consistency, but warm. Rolls can be quite filling after a few! Ginger and wasabi is provided and can be replenished when you require more.Kazu is a non tipping establishment, with that said, you can tell the staff do enjoy working there and the service is friendly and exceptional. Would definitely come back again and try the other items on the menu!
Went for a late lunch for the novelty of the concept and all the raving reviews. For the friendly price, convenience, service, and the innovative concept of a hand roll bar, I would give it a 4 star.I read from the website that they focus a lot of quality. I believe that. However, what I really cannot come to terms with is how the hand roll was made served. The rice in the hand roll was very warm, out of the rice cooker, which caused the seaweed wrap to be soft, and that the warm rice contrasted too much with the very very cold raw fish seafood. The hand roll was wrapped so loosely that it was falling apart. I understand that it’s probably a food safety protocol but sushi needs to be served at near room temperature to be yummy. I really think you can be way better if you let the rice cool down first.
Sublime what can I say. This place should be on everyone’s bucket list if they find themselves in midtown. Forgo the typical temptation to grab Udon or a slice of cake in K-town and opt to walk a few block down Broadway you won’t be disappointed.I’ve been to the one in LA and have to say the experience was just as good. I didn’t know we had one in NYC!I’ve been to this location a few times and love the simplicity of the menu, service quality of the food shines through.Sometimes keeping it simple is how you experience what matters. A great sushi experience with an ever changing menu!Not great for more than 2-3 friends due to the bar style layout but overlooking that my advice would be get here early and avoid the lines!
My last visit to KazuNori was back in 2019, and I'm so happy to be back to find that the food is still as good as I last remembered it.AMBIANCEAs for this hand roll bar, it's still on a first come, first service basis. I waited around 10 minutes for a table on a weeknight at 5:30pm, however after 6pm it got super busy with the line extending outside the street. There is a long bar, with some hooks underneath to hang your personal belongings.FOODThey have some specials, which I did get to try the sea bass hamachi $9) that was very refreshing. I also got the Nozawa's 6 Hand Roll order $35) where some of the standouts I loved were the lobster and eel. Everything is so fresh, the rice is warm and the fish just melts in your mouth.SERVICEService was efficient and waiters were friendly. It's also a no tipping restaurant gratuity is already included in the prices.Definitely recommend coming in for the dine in experience!
The price is unbeatable for good quality hand rolls. Do I think it's worth the hype not really. It's good don't get me wrong it's just not something to do a crazy line for. The toro and yellow tail is my favorite. The service is impeccable and the ambiance is fun and unique.
