Bidrage med feedbackThis is hands down the best restaurant in San Pancho, especially if you want something else. There are some wonderful traditional Mexican places in town, but after three days we wanted to change it. We were at the hotel...Maraica right on the beach, so we were removed from the city. Marplata was only five minutes walk to Calle Palmas from our hotel, from the beaten path between apartments and near the La Patrona Beach Club. We came shortly before they opened, but they were friendly enough to leave us early. The whole place is absolutely beautiful, with metal blades hanging like stars on a deep blue ceiling, lush plants everywhere, and pieces of a recovered steam ship worked into the decoration. We were greeted by Kevin, the wonderful co-owner of the place that is a transplant from the Napa Valley. His years of work as Sommelier meant that we had to taste some of the best unique wines from Mexican wine regions. They were both delicious, like the craft cocktail with fresh cucumber and gin. Then there was the food I can't say enough about the food. It is creative and complicated, but also simple, fresh and locally produced. We ordered at least half of the menu and loved everything from the refreshing jicama, apple and white cheddar salad to the fresh and spicy tuna, to the creamy octopus risotto that was so amazing that we actually ordered another round of it after we had finished the first dish! The chef really knows how to mix flavors from his European/Mexico heritage to create the most unique and tasty food on the island. The staff is so friendly and helpful that we got a lesson about Mexican wine regions and also learned a lot about the city of San Pancho. All while you hit the most stunning sunset overlooking the sea through the palms. Even with the high-end food and service, it was so favorable that we gassed (in a good way) when we saw the bill. Coming from Dallas, where dinner drinks of this caliber would cost at least twice what we paid, we were pleasantly surprised by the affordability. To say that was a magical experience that signifies it. Bottom line if you are in San Pancho, Lo de Marcos, Sayulita or anywhere near...get to Marplata as fast as possible! They won't be disappointed.
We went here twice a week, so great the food is. Higher end, but still relatively inexpensive. We tried quite everything on the menu and the highlight was the tuna and the steak. The pineapple cake was the most heavenly dessert... I ever had!!! The employees were so amazing and friendly and really made the experience....they are part of the reason that we returned a second time. Well
I had the opportunity to join Mar Plata San Pancho for a pop up dinner hosted back in September. I happened to partake in one of the most well thought out, planned dining experiences I've ever had. Each dish was carefully presented with Chef Ramses...intentions and clearly his intent was to blow minds. When you are in Nayarit, and more specifically San Pancho Nayarit Mexico, be sure to carve out a night or two to experience this restaurant. You won't regret it. Bravo and buen provecho
We visiting San Pancho for 10 days in December and went to this lovely restaurant twice! Mar Plata's food and cocktails are excellent, the staff and manager are attentive, and the ambiance, lighting, and decor are wonderful. Its outside of town, but well worth the...walk or drive. The restaurant is open air and on the second floor and near the ocean. Thanks Mar Plata!
