Aonami Sushi - Chico

As for the food, it was generally very good! With the exception of one roll, I didn’t find myself needing soy sauce for anything because the fish was fantastic, and the complimentary sauces were delightful. Unfortunately, one roll was off, which both my mother and I noticed despite our different tastes. If we’re both making a face, something’s not right! Nonetheless, the staff took the roll back without hesitation and kindly offered to replace it or issue a refund. Thank you very much for that! The only aspects that didn’t impress me were the soy sauce and the overall ambiance. They offer both low-sodium and regular soy sauce, which is great! My mother and I prefer the taste of the green-capped low-sodium option over regular Kikkoman. However, I suspect there may have been a mix-up, as both kinds tasted identical. Additionally, the soy sauce dish was not clean; there were particles stuck to the sides, which was unsettling. It might sound unreasonable, but while the staff was fantastic, the atmosphere felt geared towards a pretentious crowd looking for decent sushi. Yes, the sushi is good, but it’s not extraordinary. The creative rolls can be fun, and I appreciate that you can order a roll without certain ingredients, but it seems overly tailored to a specific demographic. Many rolls contained cream cheese, jalapeño, mango, or masago, slathered in sauce, and anything that was meant to be spicy just... wasn’t. Sometimes, you just crave a classic spicy tuna roll, you know? In summary, this is a good restaurant, and I would recommend it to others. However, if you’re a sushi snob like me, you might want to look elsewhere. Personally, I don't plan to return.

The sushi here is top-notch, and the menu offers many other excellent choices as well. The staff is very polite!

In my opinion, this is the best sushi place in Chico. They offer a variety of vegetarian rolls as well.

Everything was very delicious. Fresh sushi and delicious flavor. The girl who served us (left-handed with Chinese hair was super friendly and always with a good attitude : my family loved the food. We just really enjoyed dining at this place.

Julia, was delightful, kind, intentional, gracefully helpful in our visit. The PARK suishi, cucumber salad and 20th were enjoyable. The conversations were memorable and comforting.We wish we had a place like this in Corvallis, Oregon.
