Great meat and big portions. Staff are very helpful and speak great English!

The food was great, the staff is super friendly. Service was fast. The meat was very tasty !

It was the third time I ate there. Absolutely unacceptable what they did. First we were told you haven't reserved... but they found a table for us. So far so good. We couldn't decide what to take, so the waiter proposed a plate with both dishes. Was ok the time before it was a plate with 3 different dishes. Just this time the portions were ... double, as the price ! 100€ for the fish for 5 persons ! Without the wine or anything else. The cod fish ... was not well cooked. Never seen that before. My friends didn't want to complain unfortunately. At the end they charged 5€ for butter etc. we didn't eat, it was removed. 120€ at the end and ... we couldn't finish the plates, it was too much. Be very careful if you go there. The desserts are not good, we didn't take any. It definitely depends on the days ...

While staying at the Vidago palace we wanted a dinner with a more casual local feel. Driving 20 minutes to Chaves we ended up at Taberna Tipica Bento and had our best meal of the week. The hosts were charming, friendly and efficient. despite the restaurant filling to capacity 30 minutes after we sat down a great sign of local endorsement, we were well taken care of. I had the grilled pork and my husband had the mixed grill, both of which were perfectly cooked and lovely. One of the surprising standouts was the rice served with my pork I don't think I have ever had rice as perfectly prepared and flavorful along with a lovely salad it seemed like a great local meal. At the last minute we ordered lemon cheesecake for desert Amazing the best sweet I had in Portugal better than any of the famous starred restaurants. With a glass of port it was a perfect ending

Had an excellent meal with brilliant customer service and fantastic food and atmosphere. I've learnt the hospitality in Portugal is always wonderful and food is taken seriously here. The steak was delicious and the portions too generous especially for the price, highly recommended. Thank you Taverna Tipica Benito
