La Taverna dei Quattro Mori - Chapala

Had lunch there yesterday and plan on going back today, the food was that good! The pepper steak was outstanding. Talk is cheap, I better check to see if they are open today? Those dreadful Mondays, if not Monday than Tuesday it is. With so...many restaurants in Ajijic this high praise.

This used to be a wonderful Italian restaurant, but since their move to the present location has gone downhill. The Salmon Siciliana, the last three times we ordered it, has been overcooked and dry. The veal dishes, once a highlight of the menu, have also...been tough and chewy. The calamari was overcooked to the point of being inedible. And the sauce on the most recent pasta dish was very ordinary. One of the few Lakeside restaurants open every day, I'm hoping that they can somehow return to caring about their menu the way they used to. The service is friendly and attentive, and the free bread and olive oil for dipping while waiting for your meal is a definite plus.

I have been here twice with my family, and everyone has been pleased with their food each time. They provide warm focaccia bread with olive oil and basalmic vinegar to start. I had a glass of Malbec wine that was delicious. We tried the margherita...pizza and it was fabulous. The fettuccine pasta with meat sauce was also very good.
