Hillside Texas Bistro - CASTROVILLE

My wife and I were here for a long weekend. the rooms are nicely furnished, the bed was very comfortable, and the place was very clean and clean. certainly not the busiest place in the world, but that is not what we have ever wanted. a very slow and comfortable tempo. the people at the reception were more than happy to make sure we had what we needed. james and victoria in the bar and restaurant were great! we had the best time with the staff here. lots of fun, excellent eating and drinks and certainly to tell stories. when levi works in the kitchen, make sure they get a few of his plates of garnelen tacos. that was excellent. we had a great experience and wanted to return.

For a place only open 5 days out the week I expected better. My breakfast plate was super greasy. The potatoes were seasoned pretty good, but just don't expect my eggs to drip that much grease. My wife said the biscuits and gravy were ok nothing to special about them. Our server only visited us twice. Once to take our order and the other to deliver our food. No refill on my coffee, kinda glad for, and no checking up to see if we needed anything. The worst part for me was the $4 for a bad cup of coffee. I could have drove to Whataburger, just down the street, for a larger better flavorful cup of coffee. 2 stars is being generous, if you attempt to eat here try lunch or dinner.

Wow! We found this from a TV spot highlighting the food, which is good; however, if James is working the bar, you're in for a treat. Over two nights, we tried many of the drinks on their cocktail menu and ALL we're solid. Enjoy!

Kellner? hilarious and seufzt! appetizer? delicious! main course? bomb! drink? casual, delicious, a beautiful view! gott! even water tasted super!

Here is gold! the hotel is located on a rather humble location, it is super idyllic. Eating here is really bistro, but absolutely delicious. I've been eating for a quick lunch and a break: it was worth it. the staff and hostess are among the kindest I have seen. so glad I came and will come back in any case.
