Venues Cafe - Carefree

Sorry, I typically write good reviews however... Nothing made from scratch. All out of a can, likely from Costco. Advertised they were participating in restaurant week until 5/19. But stopped specials on 5/18. Service was ok. Nothing special. Ambience tired. We hadn't eaten there in 5 years as our last experience wasn't great. We were hoping they'd improved -it's such a great location. But... if anything, it's gone downhill.

I made a reservation for indoors. The hostess showed us the table which was a high top. My mother is 91 and can't sit at a high top. She said well you should have put that in the reservation. It was not an option. She said it 3 times. We ended up sitting outside. We placed out order and had a nice lunch. The pancakes were dry and my hamburger was well done. It took forever to get an ice tea refill. We got the receipt and it was wrong.

We had the shrimp wrapped in bacon with risotto and asparagus. It was absolutely outstanding. We brought two couples with us that had never eaten there, and they were equally as impressed and will definitely be back. 

We met friends that we hadn't seen for two years and had a very pleasurable lunch. The meal was good. I believe everyone was happy with the food. The waiter seemed to want to hurry us along. That was somewhat annoying. Aside from that we enjoyed our time at Venue's Cafe.

Our go to spot for HH and other events! Good options for all tastes. Love the meatloaf sand, the strawberry spinach salad and the seafood enchiladas. Staff is friendly no matter how busy they get.
