Eleto Chocolate Cafe - Canterbury

I frequent this restaurant regularly. It can get busy, so service might be a bit slow at times, but I don't mind because the location is lovely and the staff are friendly. It's a fantastic place to grab a coffee, cocktails, or have lunch with friends or family.

I’ve been a few times over the years and have always loved it, however today it was an awfully slow and disappointing experience. After sitting outside for 20 minutes waiting for their ‘table service’ I went to order. The dessert side of the menu has dramatically reduced over the last year with options available … removing items such as their pot of indulgent melted chocolate which when asked if this possible to order was met with a very reluctant response to check with a manager so I ordered a chocolate crepe instead (big mistake) along with chocolate coated strawberries asking for the melted chocolate to be on the side which they offer on the menu with a Diet Coke and flat white. After waiting around 10 mins our drinks arrived along with the strawberry’s with the melted chocolate over them error one and then having to wait a further 30 minutes for the crepe to arrive after asking twice how long it would be error 2. The young gentleman who brought this out did apologise for the wait and for his second day he was really polite and friendly. The crepe really wasn’t that nice very bland even with the chocolate but the strawberries were lovely as always. I understand they may have been busy but at least indicate to customers how long they may be waiting before ordering it’s not exactly a three course dinner request.

The atmosphere at the restaurant felt disorganized, with a mix of styles in furniture and a confusing layout. The staff were loud and seemed to be arguing and chatting about personal topics, while the sound of someone banging the espresso holder against the trash bin added to the chaos. To make matters worse, our food took a long time to arrive as a staff member placed a sandwich order ahead of ours. Though the staff appeared friendly, that was the only positive aspect of our experience.

I stopped by the restaurant today to pass the time. Upon entering, I was informed that it was table service. I found a table upstairs as the only available one downstairs was in front of a broken window with a hole in it. After waiting for 10 minutes with no sign of any staff, I went downstairs to place our order. The staff appeared more interested in chatting with each other than serving customers, making me feel guilty for interrupting them. When I returned upstairs 10 minutes later, there was still no sign of anyone. After 20 minutes, our drinks finally arrived, but by that time we had to leave. We decided to take the drinks as takeaways, and were charged £9 for 2 hot drinks. The whole experience was hopeless.

Nice place good staff. The chocolate cakes etc were good and well presented. I have been here a few times and plan to return.
