Prairie Dog Brewing - Calgary

I was recently invited here by a friend. The place has a great atmosphere. The staff was very friendly. I ordered the 2 protein meal with brisket and ribs as my protein, along with fries and a side of gravy. The fries were nicely done, crispy, and delicious. The brisket was done very nicely with a great smoke ring (while the smoke ring adds nothing to flavor. It was nice to see) When it came to the pork ribs, I had a different experience. I could see right away that the ribs appeared dry and over cooked. This was confirmed once I started cutting into them. The flavor was nice. However, they were quite dry and needed the side of sauce to add some moisture.When it came time to pay, my friend wanted to pay with cash. While the server said they do accept cash, it would have to be in the amount to cover the bill as they were not able to provide change for anything over the bill total. My friend did not have Abby other firm of payment other than cash and was not going to use a $100.00 bill to pay for a $55.00 bill without receiving change.I was able to provide payment with a card. Unfortunately, to the embarrassment of my friend who had invited me for lunch.In conclusion, great atmosphere, great staff, I would recommend the brisket. It was very nice. The fries were some of the best I 've had. I can 't, however, provide the same recommendation for the prok ribs unless you like your ribs dry. If you like dry pork ribs, this would be your place. And if you want to pay with cash, you need to be prepared to not receive any change.

The new Experimental IPA made me wish I hadn't forgotten my growler. Guess I will have to visit again to get a better sense of the brew.

The nachos had their in house smoked cheddar cheese- a must try. The platter was the best thing we could’ve ordered. As someone who is particular with BBQ- this place really hits the spot! Amazing food, witty server (Dalton), great music entertainment- what’s better than that!

As a person who doesn’t like beer i can tell u I only drink beer when I’m at this place and super B is my favourite! The food is great too! I love their brisket! We were a group of 6 people and one dish was enough for us!

We have been to this place about 4 times. The first time we went it was great and it just got worse and worse until the last time we went yesterday. The service was absolutely terrible. Servers were serving all tables and then when we asked to order they said we had to go up to the bar to make an order yet all other tables were submitting orders through servers right at the table. When we asked they sounded annoyed and wouldn't serve us at our table. They have signs up when you walk in talking about discrimination against all types of people and nationalities and look what they do. We have no idea why they went down hill however, we will never be going back. The food is decent but not worth the trouble. There are other places with better food and way better service.
