Bidrage med feedbackWas craving for Chinese food and found this little gem while in Burwood If you like spicy Chinese food then this is the place.
This recently opened venue holds seats and been tiny its menu is even tinier! You get a choice of four noodles and some appetiser options. Beef noodle soup in standard and spicy stock.I ordered the later which came with a good serve of noodle, beef and dressed with coriander. The broth was fragrant. Soup mildly spicy and not overly oily. The beef which is cubed is very tender and tasty. Noodles were nice and al dente.
The service was terrible as there was no napkins and we were placed in table with no air flow. The food was all chili based and northern style, not to our liking. There was a small live insect in the white rice pot served.
Great food and great price :) I recommend booking a table when you drive a weekend evening as it is pretty busy. Personally, I liked the lamb crescent, pork belly, chili fish and beef duct.
Szechuan offers the more popular Chinese cuisine, but not overlooking the neighboring province of Hunan (birthplace of the chairman Mao). There are no Szechuan peppercorns that are used here for an anesthetic feeling, it is pure up to chilli for heat. In Sydney, there are only one handful of restaurants where you can try the intense fiery Xiang cuisine from this part of China, and Yi Pin Xiang in Burwood is one of them. I may be biased because I'm originally from Hunan, but I'm making the authenticity of the flavors here, and we'll go back. Must try it is a casual, located dining, so do not expect five-star service, but the food and value is fantastic. If you have never tried Xiang Cuisine, I recommend at least once. The menu has photos that should help with your selection. Do not worry ... If you can not handle too much heat, tell the waiter and you can adapt to mild.
