Original Max's - Burlingame

Ordered 2 sandwiches while staying by nearby hotel. Ordered the turkey club and pastrami sandwich. The turkey club was pretty good but the pastrami sandwich was not even eatable, it was dark brown and seemed like meat was not fresh and just reheated. DO NOT ORDER THE PASTRAMI SANDWICH. Restaurant lacked customer service and food quality was not how I remembered Max's. I will no longer dine in or take out. Sad but not worth it

I ordered the crispy carnitas. Oddly, they were not crispy. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Overall it was ok. Not sure I would go out of my way to go again. The bar tender did a great job on the old fashioned.

I had not been to this location for over twelve years. Before that I used to be a big fan of Max's Opera Cafe in SF. Wait staff was excellent and helped to enhance a birthday dinner, including the birthday sundae on the house for my mother. Turkey Club sandwich was good, as was the salad. Shrimps in the shrimp cocktail had no flavor and were off color, plus the tomato cocktail sauce tasted like from a jar. Oh well, nothing is perfect. Live jazz on a Monday early evening was great and the bar/restaurant atmosphere was enjoyable and lively. I will return for a simple sandwich dinner with another zero alcohol beer, and to hear the jazz.

Pretty good spot for a bite to eat. We were kind of in a hurry for a snack, so we ordered take out. The food was ready in under 5 minutes. We had the blt with avo and their potato salad. Both were really good The potato salad is unique Ambiance wise, it seems like a pretty cozy place to dine in

My dad would definitely recommend this place, this is his go to spot to celebrate just about everything. We have gathered here at Max 's in Burlingame countless times over the years. My dad use to be hooked on the large T-Bone steak that was so big it covered over half the plate. He 's a very generous tipper and the staff loves him when he comes in. I enjoy the food here we sit in a section where we can talk, eat, and laugh. The location is great with an ocean view and nice hotels near the S.F. airport. Everybody orders something different, it turns into a buffet. I 'm usually so full at the end I have no room for dessert. Over the holidays my sister asked my stepmom if we could eat somewhere else for a change? She never answered, so I took that as a no!Lol.. As the sign out in front says this is a bad place for a diet and it is! We always enjoy the large portions and the friendly staff.
