Bidrage med feedbackI really enjoyed the food and atmosphere in the Ox, but it is very expensive! I could not justify a second visit when my local does a fantastic steak for half the price.
Sunday roast lunch beneath Bristol’s old city streets opposite the market. Lots of turn of the century deco hangings. Generous baked cauliflower, garnish gravy roasted potatoes portion drenching the roast Yorkshire pudding. Plenty of appetisers, desserts sides for hungrier patrons. Extensive beverage menu too. Service was crisp nice to enjoy at a proper pub serving English fare.
This restaurant was a real little find. It’s actually downstairs from Street level the atmosphere, the lighting the food everything about it was amazing I highly recommended
The starters were great bone marrow and Scallops . For mains, my wife had the 'Early Bird ' which was a good deal; 6oz rump steak, fries, a sauce/butter and a glass of wine or soft drink all for £20. However, my steak £34 just literally came on its own no salad, mushroom or tomato etc. . You have to buy everything additionally: Chips £6, butters/sauces £3.50/£4.50, mushrooms £5.50... The steak was ok/good, but not amazing. The chips are not chips, they are wedges; imagine taking a large potato and cutting it into quarters that 's their chips. I 'm not a fan of wedges, which isn 't the restaurants fault, but had they called them what they are, I wouldn 't have ordered them. I have no issue paying good money for good food when eating out, but my £34 steak quickly became a £50 meal with the additional items, and I didn 't feel it was worth anywhere near that. The staff were great and the service was good, so full marks on that.
A hidden gem of a underground restaurant in Bristol, lovely location with a vast menu. Ambience great and staff attentive. Food delivered with a superb presentation and full of flavour, our waiter Ben gave us a great dining experience.
