Amazing friendly staff and great food ..Good size portions . Lovely wood burner old style pub .. so happy we came here by chance

Myself and my family (a table of 4 had decided on a post payday treat and thought The Crown is spoken about but we have never been – booking here was the best decision. The pub itself is oldy-worldy, quirky and just really quite cozy. On arrival we ordered our drinks and were shown to a table upstairs, a table with a tablecloth, wine glasses, side plates and menus waiting. Not long after we had settled a large group were sat down next to us, leaving us to initially think ‘we aren’t going to be able to hear anything now!’ (The restaurant was empty apart from us and the group being a Tuesday evening! . However, we should not have worried as our waitress (Penny came to take our order and quickly realised the noise level and offered us another table in another area (without us even having to say anything! and not only that when we viewed the other area Penny also mentioned an even cosier area that we may prefer .. which we did! We all had starters and mains and from first to the last bite the food was amazing. Clearly homecooked, rich in flavour and a generous portion! We all left full up and having enjoyed and really really lovely meal. If you are looking for somewhere to have a relaxed, chilled, civilised, value for money (approx. £109 for 4x 2 courses and a mix of wine and soft drinks meal then this is the place for you. We will definitely be returning!

Just what we were looking for! Met family and stayed here prior to a wedding. Received a warm welcome to this lovely old hotel. Enjoyed a very nice dinner too

Recently moved into the area so thought it was worth trying out our new local. Friendly staff, our server Lucy was very attentive and the food we had (Lasagne and Steak Ale pie) was tasty and generous portions for the money. Will definitely visit again

The last time we had visited was about 3 years ago. The reason we had left it so long was because, on that occasion, we found the staff to be unfriendly, and the food not great. As some time had elapsed, we decided to give it another go and went with an open mind. This time things were very different. The staff were friendly and mostly attentive (we had to walk downstairs to pay the bill as they seemed to have forgotten us). The food was excellent, both in quality and quantity. So based on this experience, we will be back. Thank you.
