Bidrage med feedbackAs one of the most popular restaurants in AC and one of the main reasons anyone ever came to the The Playground Piers #1 , the Continental broke many hearts by closing due to the hardship of the pandemic. Owned by the Starr group behind Buddakhan, both venues boarded up as COVID raged the east coast and never opened back up. Continental was massive establishment, with a fleet of workers running the show and the space to support even more folks on the inside. Their vintage theme worked well as a pseudo gimmick and was a perfect nod to the retro American classics with a modern flare. I enjoyed many brunches here, along with salad sandwich lunches with colleagues and friends, having a grand ol time every time. This is one of the few spots that had the feel of a resort meal without being in a casino. I will always remember their lobster mac that had a variety of cheese and orzo to make things fun. The french onion soup dumplings were a hit, as was their burgers and short rib sandwich. Naturally, prices weren't the cheapest but they were still more reasonable than most of the other eateries in the same space. Customer service was always on point and the place was always clean including the bathrooms! . Time will tell as to what will happen with the space. Since the Playground was officially purchased by Caesars recently, I'm sure some revamping is sure to come. Hopefully something just as good if not better! will occupy this spot. ____________ #1 [hidden link]
We like to go to the outlet stores in AC. After four hours of shopping we look for a good place for lunch. After cutting through the casino to reach the pier we had several places to choose from. We decided on the Continental because of the open dining area and the view. One thing, they sit you in the pit with a fire burning on a day when it was 90 dogs outside. Did not need the extra heat. Service was good. Our server made good suggestions and they both turned out great.
Love the ambience at this restaurant. So much to explore and very modern. The service was great and our waitress was very friendly. We had to change our reservation about three times and they ended up memorizing my number, but they didn't give us a hard time about it. The drinks were delicious and perfectly made as requested. The food was also delicious and made to perfection.
Delicious dinner out for my friend's birthday. She made reservations for 8 of us at 7:45. We got there just a few minutes early and enjoyed taking pictures in their Adirondack chairs set up for what I'm sure is a great daytime view of AC. We were seated right away, and the restaurant wasn't too busy although it was a Sunday night. The table had a ginormous order of fries as a shared appetizer, split between 8 people and there was still some leftover. The sauce that came with the fries was delicious. A hummus appetizer was ordered as well, and although I didn't try it my friend said it tasted great. We order a huge variety of dinners and everyone was happy with their meal. I had the salmon for $19 which was fairly priced. I couldn't finish the portion which was deceptively big.
4.5 stars for sure. My family and I were here a year ago (an annual convention we attend nearby and this place is top of the list as far as must return to dine. Since we 're only in Atlantic City once a year, it 's a struggle to want to try a new place or re visit this go to spot. As many of the other reviewers say, the French Onion Soup dumplings are amazing...my 12 yr old son insisted we totally come back just to order this dish. My son is a huge fan ate half the order himself. He 's a foodie in training! ; The other must have dish here is actually a side dish that we loved on our first visit the wasabi mashed potatoes. So addictive! Makes the regular mashed potatoes so boring ... if you haven 't tried it, you should. But you gotta love wasabi to see why I find this so appealing. The restaurant menu is categorized as American both on Yelp and on their website; but it actually serves a variety of Asian fare or Asian inspired dishes. I honestly think they can re brand themselves, cuisine wise, to be called Asian Fusion. They offer Udon, Szechuan Fries, Korean Pork Tacos, the wasabi mashed I mentioned earlier, Thai Chicken Skewers and even Pad Thai to name a few. In fact, I ordered as my dinner, the Cheesesteak eggrolls with Sriracha ketchup. The steak was cut thin, bell peppers, mushrooms and onions rolled up with it and it was quite cheese y. The sriracha ketchup was a great accompaniment. In fact, the few notable American fare were sliders and mac and cheese (off the dinner menu . They do serve baked chicken, Caesar salad, hummus, beer battered shrimp and calamari if you want to categorize as American. My son ordered the quesadillas on this visit and enjoyed that very much. The corn salsa served in the center had a kick and was very refreshing. My hubby ordered the Seafood Pad Thai. It was good not memorable. Our server was very prompt in taking our orders and always checked in on us. She was very good with the whole dinner service, pangs me that I forgot her name at the moment. We were so lucky to score a table next to the fireplace. Great dining had by all.
