Bidrage med feedbackI dined at a historic old pub with lots of charm and a quaint old-world atmosphere. The bistro upstairs, accessible by stairs or elevator, was where I had dinner. The staff was friendly and efficient, and there is a fantastic play area for kids, making it a great spot for families. The food was delicious, and I definitely plan to return. This popular spot is best reserved in advance.
I visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from Pierre at Pierre's Winery, and it turned out to be the best meal I had during my trip to Hunter Valley. The food was affordable and delicious, with a wide selection of options including specials of the day. We visited on a Sunday and took advantage of the $15 per dozen oyster deal, which though small, were still sweet and tasty. We also shared the smoked BBQ menu, including beef brisket, pulled pork, and chicken wings with a side of sweet potato fries. Each meat came with a sauce, although I recommend asking for the sauces on the side or specifying which sauce you want. The sweet potato fries were particularly enjoyable, especially with a blue cheese aioli. The whisky BBQ sauce paired well with the pulled pork and chicken wings, although the brisket was a bit dry. Overall, the meal was fresh, well-prepared, and felt more like a restaurant than a pub.
"The steak, salad, and fries were amazing. The gin and tonic was perfectly balanced."
Fillet Mignon and roast vegie meals were excellent and the side of sweet potato chips were so delicious. The customer service was very good, so mindful of our comfort, turning the fans off and putting heaters on. We loved the online booking system where we could choose where to eat; front or back verandah, bistro or downstairs. Always a great experience. Would love to see more vegan mains options.
Lovely old local with great pub food. Steaks done to order, and tasted better than some high end places (yes that's you Botswana Butchery) in Sydney. Highly recommended
