Bidrage med feedbackThe food was absolutely delicious! Flavours were amazing and the naan bread was delicious and fresh and made in front of us. Not as much variety as other places as you walk in and buy from the Bain Marie but then again no wait. No fancy things in the dishes such as sultanas/almonds ect but still great food! A little expensive when it comes to beef and lamb dishes but then again the naan and rice is very well priced. They also do a great one person meal deal. We will definitely be back!
The curries at this restaurant have more flavor than other Indian takeaways I've tried. I also really enjoy their gulab jamun dessert. The servers are friendly and attentive, never rushing you.
I always love going to Indian Friends! They offer a wide variety of dishes at great prices. Their curry and rice combo is only $8, and their naan bread, especially the cheese ones, is fantastic. The food is served quickly, with the only wait time being for the freshly baked naan, which typically takes 5-10 minutes.
Tried two different medium spiced chicken curries and found the spice to appropriately described as medium. Reasonably sized pieces of very tender boneless chicken (not sure if I was lucky there) provided a good meal. Had a rectangular takeaway container which was a typical size but described as extra-large for $20.95. Just had the curry, without rice and it was a bit thin although tasty.
We went to the Ross River Road store last night for dinner. I had to convince the rest of the family to try something new as we are all fans of Miss India. I am not fond of that restaurant in summer though as the air con doesn't work properly and it is not pleasant sitting in the heat, despite the food being very good. Indian Friends however, has very similar offerings in the food department, and also are very good with GF options and vegetarian meals. Prices are good, with many special packages available. Large selection of Naan breads. However, what was super impressive for all of us was the lovely quiet setting and the very professional, warm and friendly service. The staff were very informative and knowledgeable in regards to our GF requirements and this is a huge plus. The pakoras, and samosas were so yummy, with the chicken samosas probably the best I have tasted. My granddaughter ate 3 very large pakoras and polished off a small curry in no time. My son and I had the special for $10, and this included one plate of curry with rice, 2 tandoori chicken wings, papadums and dressings. It was a very pleasant dining experience indeed, and we will definitely be back next time we are in Townsville. This store is located in the old Pizza Hut building. Loads of parking too.
