Bidrage med feedbackThis place is SO worth the drive! About 20-30 minutes outside of Elliot Lake, this lodge is set in incredibly picturesque surroundings. There are small cabins surrounding the lodge where you can rent and stay with family or friends. Beautiful walking trails. The lodge itself has great customer service and hearty, homemade food. We've always liked the chicken Caesar salad and the burgers. Totally worth the drive and the 5 stars!
Friends of mine had their wedding at Laurentian Lodge and I was there for 4 days. We had the entire place on lockdown, by that I mean the only people other than the Two Miserable Owners and staff on the property for the entire weekend were guests of the bride and groom. I felt the way everyone was treated I needed to write this review. The one major complaint from everyone, not just me, was the absolute miserable owners that went Outta their way to make us feel uncomfortable and treated everyone (180 people another 40 who stayed in Elliot Lake) like beaten dogs. Even to the point the male owner called a friend of the family YA LITTLE PUNK several times over and over in front of several guests. The woman owner slammed my red solo cup on the bar so hard it cracked after I politely asked for an extra cup. The sauna did not work and staff said it had been a very long time since it had. It 's been a few months since they got married and every single guest (friends) I have spoken to about their experience at the Lodge had nothing good to say about the Two Owners. Some really bad stuff! I actually have other stuff that the owners did and said, but I think you get the point. Bottom line the owners attitudes made a really great weekend into a bit of a circus act and had quite a few people stressed out and uptight. That 's some of the bad part of this review. Now on to the good to great side of things. Overall if this place had been run differently and as a whole our party had been treated better from the owners, we 'd all be going back in the future. Most people said it ranked as one of the nicest places they 've been to in the north. Which I tend to agree with even coming from some of the nicest country northern Ontario has to offer. That says a lot I think. The staff was great, rooms were nice and clean, I had the fire place room and it was huge, and every cabin besides The Tree top cabin was on the water or looking over the beautiful set of water falls. Landscape was very well maintained. Food was great. There is WiFi in the main lodge and in certain parts of some of the cabins. The rooms have no tvs and no radios, which I found really nice when you want to totally disconnect from the madness of life. No cell service either. I gave them a 3 star review for the simple fact that the two owners made it very difficult to give anything above that! If the owners sold or....whatever... I would go back in a heartbeat and I 'd give a 5 star. But that won 't be happening anytime soon that 's for sure, not with so many amazing places in the North. We even had plans to go back for our friends anniversary (for another get together) and that 's since been cancelled after talking to everyone and hearing their complaints about the owners.
