Lefty's - Blacksburg

My absolute go to, the emerald kale salad is heavenly. The cilantro lime dressing is world class. I add avocado to it. I'm a big fan of their house made chips with pimento cheese. They make good cocktails, too.

We went for dinner to Lefty's last month. I thought all was well until I got my Visa bill this week, and see they changed my bill total behind my back and added another two dollars to what I authorized. I still have my receipt. Lowdown! And this yelp is difficult to understand how to rate the stars step. Never used Yelp to leave a review before. I'm 61.

Lefty's has a unique vibe to it, once a local beer manufacturer turned bar and grille, it is a spot I would recommend to anyone in Blacksburg. Pricing was fair but not exceptionally cheap. The chips served with the spinach artichoke dip were very plain and contained no flavor. The dip was okay, a little chunky for my liking but still had decent flavor. Decent size to share between 2-4 people. The Tuscan Tortellini stole the show here. The portion was massive and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The sun dried tomatoes added a unique flavor but I do think there was quite a hefty amount of them. The bread was plain but great for dipping in all the leftover sauce you get. It was drenched in the sauce!! My only complaint is I wish there was a little more shrimp because the dish is so big, otherwise this is a must try in Blacksburg! Service was pretty good, food came out in a reasonable manner and the waitress was very nice. I would stop by if you are looking for a lunch or dinner spot near VT!

I had a burger and at home cut frits with the roasted artichoke appetizer, all of which were fantastic. Good service very attractive. Would come back. Burger wasn't as hard as possible.

We enjoyed lunch on Valentine's Day. The sandwich special was the peppermint Sirloin melt (painted), and it was delicious. When we arrived before noon, the dining area was not occupied, but until we finished the tables were almost full. The wine selection was sufficient, but the beer selection was expansive. Fantastic selection of craft brews. Lefty has an in-house brewery (Right Mind Brewing), but it's been a while without brewery. The word is that they still try to find this special person to lead the show.
